Understanding your SEO score
How the SEO and readability scores are calculated, what the traffic-light buckets mean and how to work the list.
Omni SEO shows two scores on every post: an SEO score and a readability score. Both are 0–100 and both are colour-coded, but they are calculated separately so a difficult sentence never hides a missing meta description.
How the SEO score is calculated
Each check carries a point weight. Your score is the points you earned divided by the total available, expressed as a percentage and rounded. The heaviest checks are the ones that historically move rankings most.

Power word in title 2What the colours mean
- Green — 80 and above. Good. Nothing urgent.
- Amber — 50 to 79. Needs improvement. Worth a pass before publishing.
- Red — below 50. Poor. Something structural is missing.
Colour is never the only signal
Every row also carries an icon and a written verdict, so the checklist is usable if you cannot distinguish red from green.
Working the list
Checks are bucketed into Fix these first, Could be better and Working well, and within each bucket they are ordered by weight. The top row is always the single highest-value change available to you right now. Fix it, and the list re-sorts.
A score is a checklist, not a target
A 100 is not the goal. Getting out of red and clearing the heaviest amber items covers the work that actually matters; the last few points are usually cosmetic.
